Black Chain Link Gates

Measuring the opening of your gate is one of the most important things you will do before ordering. Leave spaces for your posts – expect to use 2 3/8 posts for a residential fence so measure the opening between the 2 3/8 posts on either side.

You will need a latch for your gate – a butterfuly latch is popular as you can flip one side up and open the gate to go through. You will need gate post hinges, gate closer hinges and panel clamps to securely attach your gate to the posts.

Certain openings are too big for a single swing gate, so plan to put in a double gate. With a double gate you can spread out the weight over two posts and you can take a 20′ opening and then use two 10′ gates. With double gates plan to use a drop rod to open and close the double gate – they are easy to install and use and can work nicely with a padlock to open and close.

If your gate is extra long you may want to do a rolling gate. These can work nicely in commerical settings and are a good alternative to a double gate in the right setting.

Dumpster enclosure gates are often built with black chain link. Apartment complexes will have garbage enclosures and there will be privacy slats to keep you from seeing what’s on the other side (which is probably a good thing).
